Electric car maker Tesla is recalling about 1.1 million vehicles in the United States due to power window issues, reports 24 Happenings citing the Daily Mail.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said that due to a malfunction in the automatic window closing system, passengers and the driver were at risk of injury. In this regard, the agency pointed out that electric vehicles with this defect do not meet the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard for power windows.
The recall applies to nearly 1.1 million electric vehicles, including the 2017-2022 Model 3, 2020-2021 Model Y, and 2021-2022 Model S and X. The electric vehicle manufacturer has informed the regulator that it will perform an over-the-air software update to the automatic window-closing system.
This is not the first recall of Tesla electric vehicles. Previously, the company had to recall more than 800,000 vehicles in the United States due to a malfunctioning seat belt signal.
